If the Yardolanders are made of iron, the Northlanders are made of steel. “Northlander” is a term applied to virtually any human living north of Yardolan, Bwollowland, or the Sea of Sand. The land of the north is largely unfertile, with shallow soil and a very short growing season. Snow and ice cover the ground for six to eight months a year, and rocks and caves dot the land. Northlanders live primarily on a diet of caught game and harvested berries and other erratically growing fauna. Northlanders migrate across the great northern steppes in tent cities. Sometimes a great confluence of tribes come together, at others they disperse into small groups. When conditions are favourable the tribes combine their skill and know-how to construct great river rafts. They then sail down the river networks raiding areas of the south. The ever-persistent threat to the Northlanders are the orcs of the north. Living in much the same way as the Northlanders do, the orcs are even more savage and brutal than their human counterparts. While a Northlander may not think twice about splitting your skull open to take your coin, the orcs would go out of their way to do so, likely in preference to taking your coins at all.
