Trade Guilds of Scintar
Scintar’s economy is largely dominated by collection of guilds. The guild’s control the production, distribution and pricing of most goods in the country. Most guilds hold virtual monopolies on their products and are controlled by internal hierarchies which contain their own power struggles. Guild agents often work in conjunction with Scinatese officials to regulate goods, though these agents are much happier to avail themselves of the country’s soldiers to enforce their monopolies than they are to pay the taxes that accompany the sale of their goods. The last 100 years have seen a significant change in the economic landscape of Scintar. A sizable middle class has emerged and, through the proliferation and growing power of the guilds, has begun to seriously challenge the power of the aristocracy. Despite the shift, the guild’s themselves are often conflict with one another, and have extremely varied relations two different noble families, the crown, and the country at large.
